Return to Sender

My husband and I move around A LOT.  (North Carolina, St. Louis, Wisconsin, and New Orleans since we met.)  So when we knew we were going to live in a place for more than a year, I had to get a return address stamp.  There is just something about the permanence of a return address stamp that just feels so old school and charming.  Here are some of my favorites.

Etsy love: Jewelry

You might have noticed that I seriously have a thing for Etsy.  I found Etsy while planning our wedding, and fell in love with the idea of so many talented artists in one place.  It’s now the first place I turn to for gifts, decor,  and stand-out accessories.

I bought my wedding day bracelet from Noaki Jewelry, and received so many compliments on my one-of-a-kind piece.  Every piece is handmade from vintage materials, and they are the perfect for special occasions.  She has so many amazing options in her shop right now.

I recently discovered Elephantine, and I really want to buy one of her simple gold necklaces to wear every day.

My most recent Etsy purchase is from Verabel, who specializes in vintage art lockets.  I fell in love with this locket immediately, and it’s by far my favorite piece of jewelry right now.Verabel FOX collaboration locket (temporarily out of stock, will be back in February)

Etsy Love: Holiday Decor

I apologize for my blogging hiatus, we had family in town for a whole week and I am a bit spent.  And full.  I don’t think I’ll be wearing my skinny jeans for a while.

We put up our tree on Sunday (our first real one!) and I’m definitely now in full-fledged Christmas spirit mode.  My goal is to get my husband, Patrick, as excited about the holidays as I am.  While he isn’t thrilled with the Christmas music I have a penchant for, he that he loves the tree and the wreath on our door.  Score!

Encouraged by his Christmas cheer, I spent some time on Etsy looking for handmade holiday decor.  Here are some of my favorite finds:

Simple Letterpress cards from SteelPetalPress

Handmade Christmas Advent Calendar from Pretty Swank

Golden Acorns for decorating your Christmas table from TTBTreasures

Vintage Christmas Candles from PeppermintBark

Hand-stitched garland from ItchinStichin

Custom family silhouette ornament from Lepapierstudio

Please share your holiday decor finds!

An Etsy Thanksgiving

In two weeks, we will host our first Thanksgiving as a married couple at our home in New Orleans.  My husband’s family will be visiting us for the second year in a row, and I’m really excited to continue our new tradition.  Last year we didn’t have much to decorate with, but this year I’m determined to make things more festive.  Etsy has so many creative affordable options that I would love to have in our home.

Adding Style to My Morning

I have this vision of a perfect morning.  I’m sitting by the window, sunlight streaming in on me, with a cup of coffee and a good book.  In this vision, I’m always wearing a beautiful robe.  (What, don’t you always picture yourself wearing something specific in your dreams?)

In reality, I do spend most weekend mornings with a good book and a cup of coffee.  However, I’m usually wearing lounge pants and a tank top, which is a far cry from the effortlessly stylish dream-me.

This etsy seller, definitely understands my vision.  Take a look at her beautiful, hand-made robes:

Now all I need is to wake up with hair like that…

Dressing Your Pillows

I’ve been on a bit of a home decorating kick lately.  This is the first time in YEARS that I’ve stayed in the same place for more than one calendar year, and it’s put me in a nesting mood.   Pillow covers are such a simple way to really transform the look of a room. Here are they are, in all of their handmade glory:

Now the west elm daybed I’m dreaming of just needs to go on sale, and these pillows will have a lovely home.  (Right now they look pretty amazing just propped up on a bench underneath my office window.)
